S02E01 Ex-DCI Jackie Malton speaks with investigators and witnesses from the 1969 disappearance of Muriel McKay, hoping to shed new light on the mystery. On December 29th , Muriel was kidnapped from her home in Wimbledon by two brothers from Trinidad & Tobago, Arthur and Nizamodeen Hosein. Muriel was the wife of Rupert Murdoch’s top executive, and it transpired that her kidnappers mistook her for Anna Murdoch, the media tycoon’s wife—they had no idea that Muriel was just using the company car while the Murdochs were on holiday. Hours later the McKays received a call from a phone box demanding a million pound ransom. After two unsuccessful attempts to drop off the money, the police managed to track the Hoseins down to a farm in Hertfordshire. They raided the farm on February 7th, and, despite the absence of Muriel’s body, the brothers were arrested and convicted of murder. A common theory is that Muriel’s corpse was fed to the Hoseins’ family of pigs. Jackie will speak to a number of former Metropolitan police staff, including Ken German, former head of Met Police Underwater Search Team; Roy Murphy, Head of Surveillance; Detectives Tony Stevens, David Bowen, Roger Street and Peter Rimmer. She’ll also interview journalist Robin Jarossi.
