S01E01 Since the free porn revolution took hold in 2006, pornography has been just click away for any of us. No one needs to know you’re looking at it and its absolutely free. The world’s biggest porn site, PornHub receives 92 million visitors a day – that’s like the combined population of Spain and Uganda logging on at once. Generation Porn meets the viewers, stars and producers of porn to ask what this explosion is doing to us? 19-year-old Gia is 3 months in to a new career as porn star. It’s something she’s wanted to do since she was 12. For her new roommate Gianna, 21, it’s been a newer ambition. Until a few months ago she was studying psychology at university, but that all changed when she was approached through Tinder by a porn agent. It wasn’t long before she left home and moved to LA’s ‘Porn Valley’ to begin a new life. They’re part of the generation that has grown up with porn at their fingertips, a reality at odds with their parents. This which has led to friction for both young women. In the UK, we see parents and children having frank, awkward, often funny discussions about their opinions and experiences of porn. We’ll also explore how we got here – a journey which, in part, hinged on a British man overhearing a conversation in a bar. JT helped launch YouPorn – “YouTube for porn” - and made it one of the most successful porn sites in the world. His son Joe has now joined the family business and is in charge of mass marketing porn on social media for their globally popular brand Fake Taxi - “I don’t think people realise that Twitter’s one of the biggest porn sites in the world”.
