Extreme Everest
Extreme Everest is the adrenaline-fuelled account of Ant Middleton’s attempt to summit Everest for the first time. It documents the raw emotion and the impact on Ant’s body and mind at every stage as he attempts to reach the 8,848m summit and gets trapped in an unexpected and life-threatening storm. Climbing Everest has become a hugely popular, controversial and commercialised pursuit for thousands of people each year. But this popular bucket list adventure comes with serious risk. Ant (SAS: Who Dares Wins, Mutiny, Escape) isn’t afraid to take on a challenge – in his 15-year military career he completed three tours of Afghanistan, served in the ‘holy trinity’ of the UK’s elite special forces and acted as personal security guard in hostile environments for governments and VIPs. Ant’s dreamt of climbing Everest since he was 16. Although he’s an experienced climber, attempting to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain is a new and dangerous adventure for him. During the climb itself – which Ant undertakes with only a small team of Sherpas in support – we witness his hike up to base camp, through the oxygen-limited ‘death zone’ and finally to the summit. During the climb, he documents his experiences through a combination of beautifully shot crew footage and self-shot footage (and also in 360 video). As Ant experiences the reality of Everest and its extreme and unpredictable conditions - he seeks to understand why he, like thousands of others before him, has chosen to take on such a daunting challenge.
